Who can submit artwork to the project? Women
artists from around the world are invited and encouraged to submit designs
for 'In the Womb of the Rose'. - Stained glass artists are particularly
welcome. (However the initial pilot project is open to all willing to
try out the new site features and on line workshop spaces). I am not a stained glass but would like to participate - what do you suggest I do? First
work through the website reading the Project
section for information about the idea and
the Background section
for details on how to design in the tradition of leaded stained glass.
Identify a stained glass local to you (of either gender) who can advise
you as to the suitability of your design. When you have the design ready
see the Participate section for instructions
on how to submit your design Initially
the artists involved will have their submitted work shown in the
Gallery for a one or two months and then
kept in the archive. They will also have examples of their other work
and other information displayed in the List
of Artists with links to their sites if appropriate. When is the deadline for submission? There
is now no deadline - the project is in a research stage and there will
be a project for women artists specifically later. What criteria will be used to choose the successful designs? The
workshop spces in the new site allow artists to work ogether in small
groups to make their images compatible and readable. The designs will
be selected for their cultural variety, computability and adherence to
the aesthetic of medieval stained glass. They will need to be edited for
colour synchronization and border styles but that will be done in consultation
with the artists as much as possible. If there are enough designs of suitable
quality and content there could be more than one version of the window.
Who owns the copyright to the designs? Artists
retain the copyright of their original design which cannot be reproduced
without their agreement. However the edited designs once applied to the
rose window design are copyright of 'In the Womb of the Rose'. Should
there be an opportunity to make a real window in glass each artist selected
could expect to be paid for their design and/or work involved. I'm not an artist but I would like to help support the project - how can I do that? The
guide will show you how to make an image if you want to try anyway. Space
will be allocated on the site for different groups to work . Also you
can support as a sponsor - go to the Sponsors
Page for more information on supporting 'In the Womb of the Rose'. How can I help publicize this project? If
you have a website you can link to 'In the Womb of the Rose' using the
text and/or images on the Link to Us
page. If you wish to download some images to send to a friend the following
PDF files will give you both an A5 card size image( with information on
the reverse or an A4 poster for a notice board. PDF File A5 Card of www.wombrose.co.uk Front PDF File A5 Card of www.wombrose.co.uk Reverse PDF File A4 www.wombrose.co.uk In the Womb of the Rose poster size
